Program Structure:
Separate Rooms for Developmental Stages

Age-Appropriate Classrooms

We tailor our toddler programs to take place in dedicated, age-appropriate classrooms, grouping children with peers at similar developmental stages. We keep younger and older toddlers in their own areas to provide structured, targeted activities that meet each child’s needs at their current level.

Developmental Benefits of Age-Appropriate Groupings

Early learning for toddlers happens at a rapid pace, so a single year of growth makes a world of difference. Daycare for 2-year-olds doesn’t look the same as daycare for 3-year-olds, and we adapt accordingly. Our age-appropriate groupings help foster social, intellectual, and physical development in a supportive environment, focusing on milestones that align with each child’s growth stage.

Focus Areas of Development

Physical Growth

We nurture motor skills through various movement activities. This includes art, music, dance, and physical play. We maintain both indoor and outdoor play areas, so kids never have to feel confined on one of Woodbury’s rainy days.

Intellectual Growth

Toddlers are naturally curious, craving stimulation and exploration at all times. We foster their intellectual growth through language, reading, and early math activities. By the time they transition to the preschool room, our toddlers typically have a solid understanding of colors, shapes, letters, numbers, and body parts.

Social and Emotional Growth

We gently guide toddlers through social interactions, helping them learn how to communicate and cooperate with the people around them. As they develop, we encourage them to use their words to communicate and express their feelings, thoughts, and needs. Our support helps toddlers as they begin to understand how to follow directions, complete tasks with multiple steps, and confidently assist themselves and others.

Milestone Support for Language, Potty Training, and Social Skills

The toddler years bring many meaningful milestones, and our toddler development services are available to assist them all. We help with early potty training by providing potty visits at least every two hours. Our team members can also adjust this schedule to align with your potty-training approach at home, ensuring your child experiences consistency across all of their environments. We also guide children in developing essential life skills, such as getting dressed independently, using eating utensils, and engaging in cooperative play with friends.

Benefits of Early Childhood Development

Early childhood development is one of the most important stages of a child’s life. Childhood education is a crucial part of a child’s progress and well-being, and early learning centers provide an invaluable resource in helping children to learn, grow, and develop. When a child is enrolled at Little Sprouts, they are exposed to a variety of activities, such as art, music, science, and math, that can help them develop cognitively, emotionally, and socially. By participating in these activities in an early learning center, children can gain the skills necessary to succeed in school and beyond. Early childhood education can also help children develop language skills, which are important for their communication abilities. Additionally, early childhood education can give children the opportunity to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, which can help them as they grow and reach adulthood. With the help of Little Sprouts, children can set a strong foundation for their future, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.

Curriculum Highlights: Age-Appropriate Activities

Language and Communication

The toddler years are a prime time for language building. At 12 months, most toddlers speak about 10 words, a number that doubles to 20 by 18 months. Between 18 and 24 months of age, toddlers begin to understand as many as 500 words and can speak up to 50. When toddlers reach 36 months, they’re typically using around 300 words. At Peace of Mind, we support this growth through storytelling, songs, and interactive discussions.

Math and Cognitive Skills

At around 1 to 2 years of age, toddlers start to understand concepts such as numbers, shapes, and measurements. They love to empty and fill containers for a hands-on experience to explore volume, and match shapes together to see how they fit together. Our curriculum includes activities with counting, colors, and shape recognition.

Creative Arts

Participation in the creative arts sparks creativity, imagination, and self-expression. Our music and art programs promote emotional and social growth by providing innovative ways for children to articulate their feelings.

Music and Movement

We make physical activity fun with dance and music activities. Our toddlers get up and move to the beat, mastering rhythm and coordination. Our engaging routines empower them to explore physical expression to the tune of lively, playful songs.
